Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions about the Quality Refinishing Systems refinishing process for fiberglass and acrylic tubs & showers, tile walls and showers, sinks & lavatories, as well as our tub & tile repair services.

Can you change the color of my walls or bathtub/shower unit?
Most projects we complete are done for the purpose of changing color or style. Our standard colors are white, bisque & bone/almond, though color changes can be made to any color of your choosing for a standard up-charge. We can special order exact matches to most major brand names such as Kohler, American Standard, and more. If you have a color which you are unable to name, you can send us a sample chip or tile and we can have that exact matched by our supplier.
How long do I have to wait before I can use my refinished bathtub or shower?
We require that you wait 24-48 hours to allow the surface to fully cure before using the refinished tub.
How long will my refinished surface look new?
If you follow our care and maintenance recommendations, you can expect your refinished surfaces to look like new for at least ten+ years. If we refinish your tile, you should never have to refinish it again, though it is easily repaired should accidental damage occur.
How long is your warranty on refinished surfaces?
We offer 5 year warranty against peeling or cracking of finish. The warranty covers all material failure or manufacturing defects not caused by the customer by mistreatment of the refinished surface. If something unforeseen were to occur with the material that we apply, we will return immediately and at absolutely zero cost to you (assuming proper care and maintenance suggestions were followed).
Will the finished surface be slippery?
The surface will often be more slippery after the process is completed. For tub and shower floors, we offer a beautiful non-slip bottom as an accessory to the refinishing process. We place the non-slip additive underneath all the coats of material we apply. The texture is perfect to prevent slipping, and yet will NOT catch dirt over time. Please ask us about this when you book the appointment. This process can also be done as a standalone service.
What should I use to safely clean my refinished tile and bathtub?
Any non abrasive liquid cleaner, i.e. Fantastic, Liquid Mr. Clean, Lysol basin, tub and tile cleaner. Do Not Use anything like soft scrub or comet.
My bathroom is under construction when should i get it refinished?
All refinishing should be the last step of your remodel. This prevents the chances of some one accidentally dropping something in the tub and damaging the finish. All finished surfaces are masked off before the refinish begins to prevent the spray from affecting them. We suggest having us come in after all construction is completed – preferrably just before or several days after painting the room
What methods of payment do you accept?
We are happy to accept Personal Checks, Cash, Visa or MasterCard as payment.
Can you repair/refinish fiberglass, formica, or marble?
Quality Refinishing can repair & refinish fiberglass units, acrylic units, and in certain applications even cultured marble. Please call for more information, questions, or to schedule a time for our tech to come out for an estimate on your project.
Will it smell during the procedures... or after?
As the process IS a chemical one, you should be prepared for a very strong smell (similar to an auto-body shop) on the day we spray. To help alleviate this, we do use a professional exhaust fan system that vents the majority of this outdoors, After the first day the smell diminishes considerably and is normally gone within 2 to 3 days.
What should I do before you come?
Remove any loose items such as shampoo bottles, shower curtains, decorations, and easily removable wall hangings from the room.
How long have you been doing this?
Quality Refinishing has been in business since 1992.
